As GruffyGoat approaches its thirteenth year, we’ve spent the past year reflecting. Not on our revenue, or growth charts, or number of websites launched. But on the deeper stuff. Why we started. What we’re still doing here. And what kind of company we actually want to be moving forward.
From day one, GruffyGoat has been about people. Helping them. Serving them. Sometimes through design and development, and sometimes in quieter, more personal ways that don’t show up in a portfolio. It’s never been about doing things the “right” way. It’s been about doing the work in a way that feels right to us.
That’s where Gruffy for Good comes in.
So, what is it?
Gruffy for Good is our commitment to give back—intentionally, regularly, and personally. Every quarter, we choose a new project to support based on nominations from within our team. Anyone can submit one. Doesn’t matter if you’re full-time, part-time, hourly, or freelance. If you’re part of GruffyGoat, your voice counts.
The causes themselves aren’t limited to nonprofits or ministries, and they definitely aren’t limited by location. We’re looking for real, on-the-ground needs. That could be a local food pantry, a single family in crisis, a refugee community, or even a friend-of-a-friend situation. If someone on the team cares about it, we want to pay attention.
And while we’re a web company, this effort isn’t always about websites. Sometimes what’s needed is money. Sometimes it’s time. Sometimes it’s encouragement. The tools aren’t the focus. The people are.
What it looked like this past quarter
For our first Gruffy for Good project, we helped families living in extreme heat with little to no access to electricity. Many of them are part of Bedouin communities in desert regions where temperatures regularly reach 105 degrees or more.
One family included a mom, a dad, and three daughters. One daughter has a disability. One was just a few months old. Until this summer, they didn’t own a single fan.
Through friends of the GruffyGoat team—people already living and serving in that community—we were able to donate and distribute a batch of electric fans. That small gesture brought real physical relief. And maybe more importantly, it reminded those families that someone saw them and cared.
Any leftover funds from the donation went toward other basic needs in the area, like clean water, food, and school supplies. Nothing fancy. No branding. Just practical help for people who needed it.
Why we’re doing this
Truth is, we’ve always tried to help where we can. Over the years, we’ve taken on a few pro bono clients and partnered with local nonprofits. But this felt like the right time to build something more consistent. Something with structure, but not red tape.
We want Gruffy for Good to be a steady rhythm inside the company. A reminder that our work doesn’t stop at deliverables. That we’re not here only to build websites, but to build something that matters—together, with the people who make this place what it is.
And we’re starting with our own team because that’s where the strongest connections already live. These causes aren’t chosen at random. They’re tied to personal relationships. Real communities. Stories we’ve heard firsthand.
We’re not aiming for a polished public-facing campaign. No donation meters. No quarterly PR recap. Just one good thing at a time, chosen with care, followed through with action.
What’s next
We’ll keep choosing one project each quarter. Sometimes it might be another practical need, like providing clean water or school supplies. Other times, it could be a website for a small nonprofit with no digital presence. Or a cause someone’s been quietly supporting in their spare time.
The details will change, but the heart behind it won’t. We’re paying attention—and we’re committed to showing up where we can.
If you’re a client or partner reading this, there’s nothing you need to do. But if you know of a nonprofit, organization, or person doing meaningful work on the ground who might be a fit for something like this, we’d love to hear about it. Reach out and let us know.
Thanks for being here.
More soon.
