Building websites since 2012

Website Design & Development for Small Businesses

Most of your future customers visit your website before they ever talk to you. What they find decides whether the next conversation happens. We build custom sites for small businesses that need more from theirs: fast, built to convert, made to grow. And we're still here six months or six years later to keep them working.

Who this is for
01

Starting from scratch

You’re launching a new business, or you’ve been operating without a real website and you know it’s time. You want to do it right the first time.

02

Replacing a site that’s not working

You have a website, but it’s not bringing in leads, not showing up in search, or not reflecting the business you’ve grown into. A redesign is overdue.

03

Ready for something more custom

You started with a builder, a budget-friendly option, or experimented with AI to get online quickly, and now you want a site that better fits where your business is headed.

What’s included

Everything from kickoff to launch

What goes into a business website design scales with the size and complexity of the project, but most builds include:

Custom Design

Custom web design means the layout is built for your business, your brand, and the actions you want visitors to take, rather than adapted from a template someone else is already using.

Web Development

Most of what we build is custom WordPress development, though we also work in Webflow, Shopify, and Squarespace when they fit better. Clean code, fast load times, mobile-first, and a foundation built to last.

Content Support

The story you tell is the most impactful yet often the most overlooked aspect of a website project. We can help you figure out what your site needs to say and how to say it, whether through copywriting or by simply organizing your existing content.

On-Page SEO Foundation

Keyword research, page structure, meta information, image optimization, and technical SEO basics built into every page. Your site is launch-ready for search from day one.

Mobile-First Execution

More than half of your visitors see your site on a phone. We design and build for that first, then scale up to desktop.

Launch QA and Training

Every site gets thoroughly tested before launch. Once it goes live, we walk you through how to use it so you’re not lost the first time you want to update a phone number.

Strategy and Discovery

If you’re rethinking your services, repositioning your brand, or trying to figure out why your current site isn’t converting, we’ll add a discovery phase to dig in before we design. It’s where the big questions get answered.

Our approach
01

We meet you where you are.

Some projects need a full strategy phase before we start designing. Others just need a clear scope and a good team to execute. We figure out which kind of project yours is before we quote, not after.

02

Custom for the business, not the template.

Every site we build is designed for the specific business it represents. The design, the structure, and the technical choices are made for you, not pulled off a shelf.

03

Built to last.

A website should hold up for years. We build with the assumption that we’ll still be supporting your site three, five, ten years from now. That changes how we make decisions, from the platform we recommend to the architecture we set up.

The process

What it looks like to work with us

Most small business builds follow the same general path. Specifics vary by project.

Kickoff

A working conversation about your business, your goals, and what you need the site to do. This sets the direction for everything that follows.

Strategy

We map out the site structure and what each page needs to do. For bigger projects, this grows into fuller discovery, messaging, and search planning.

Content

We get your content sorted. That can mean writing fresh copy, organizing what you have, or moving over what’s worth keeping from your old site.

Design

Custom design in iterative rounds. You see the work as it comes together, give feedback, and we keep refining until the look feels right to you.

Development

We build the site, connect any tools you need, and lay foundational SEO into the build so search engines can find and understand you from day one.

Launch

Final QA, indexing, search engine submission, training, and go-live. Clients then move into a Partnership Plan for ongoing support and growth.

8–12 weeks from kickoff to launch. Larger, more complex projects may take longer. Timeline is subject to change based on feedback and revisions.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Most of our small business builds land between $6,000 and $15,000, and starter sites begin at $1,500 when the scope is matched to the budget. What moves the number is page count, whether you need new copy written, and whether the site has to do something beyond inform: booking, e-commerce, member areas, or integrations with tools you already run. We scope it before we quote, not after. The full breakdown is in our guide to what a small business website costs.
A template is a layout someone else designed, and you fit your business into it. Custom web design starts from what your business needs to communicate and builds the layout around that. The practical difference shows up later. Templates are quicker and cheaper up front, and they hold you back the moment you need something the template didn't anticipate. If your site is mostly informational and your business is straightforward, a template can be the right call. If you're trying to sell something specific, explain something complicated, or not look like your competitors, it usually isn't.
Both, and most of what we ship is custom WordPress development. That means custom themes built for your site rather than a purchased theme bent into shape, block editor work so your team can actually edit pages, ACF-driven layouts, and whatever integrations the business runs on. We build in Webflow, Shopify, and Squarespace too when those fit better. The platform recommendation comes out of the kickoff conversation, not a preference we bring in.
Yes, and we get asked this more every month. Some people started in a builder and hit its ceiling. Some had a developer disappear halfway through. Lately a lot of it is sites built with AI tools that work in a demo and aren't ready for real users or real traffic. We'll audit what exists, tell you honestly whether finishing it or rebuilding costs less, and either way you get that answer before you commit to anything.
Eight to twelve weeks from kickoff to launch for a typical small business build. Larger projects run longer. The part that moves the timeline most is content. Sites where the copy is ready move fast. Sites where we're still waiting on photos and page text in week seven do not, and that's the single most common reason a project slips.
Sometimes you should. If you need four pages, you're comfortable maintaining it yourself, and the site is there to confirm you exist, a builder is a reasonable answer and we'll tell you so. Where it stops working is when you need the site to do something specific, when SEO matters, or when you've outgrown what the platform will let you change. Most of the people who call us have already been through that and are looking for the next thing.
